General

This article discusses and speculates on the upcoming release schedule for Warhammer, based on previous releases from Games Workshop and current news and rumours.

Games Workshop have announced a new Big Summer Warhammer Preview Show on Friday. This matches our predictions for a preview show here, as we know Games Workshop were running low on previewed models to release.

This preview show will be big, with every system except Middle-earth being shown off. Here is a rundown of what to expect from each game system based on previous previews, releases and current rumours.

Warhammer 40,000

With the new Ork and Space Marine reveals being linked to the new Death Mire campaign, we don’t expect that to be shown off. We’ll likely get more details about the terrain, plus a roadmap of when we can expect codexes and which factions will be after the first two.

Age of Sigmar

The teaser video mentions a new army and current rumours point towards Ogors. This is likely to be a reveal of their initial wave; we expect to see a lot of redone models and a battle force box.

Horus Heresy

With the imminent release of the MKIV, it is not clear what we will get next for Heresy. Our previous thoughts are here. In the video, however, they mention “the rest of the models for that Horus Heresy thing.” To us that sounds like it could be the remaining Legio Custodes, but it could equally apply to any part of the range, as much is still missing.

Warhammer The Old World

Based on the teaser video “massive thing two heads”, it sounds like we are getting a chaos dragon. Along with the rumours of new Chaos Warriors, as well as the Chaos Marauders we’ve already had, it looks like Chaos is the first existing faction to get a redo. I’d also expect some information about the rumoured 1.5 version of Old World, possibly with a starter set.

Kill Team

We’ll get a preview of the next season box; we’ve already speculated on that here in detail. They said “the new Kill Team set is off the scale”, which could link to the size of the set, possibly a bigger model or more content. It is also possible we see Exodites and “scale” is a pun for the link to dinosaurs.

Necromunda

They mention a new box. Rumours are it’s a new edition starter set with redone Goliath and Escher to bring them more in line with the rest of the range.

Blood Bowl

They say “Return of what’s-his-name”, which implies this might just be the release of a new character rather than a new team.

Legions Imperialis

Unless the Heresy mention was for this system, there were no hints in the video. Most likely a few new units will be revealed. It doesn’t seem like the time to announce Custodes or plastic Primarchs.

Final word

With so much being packed into this preview, it’s likely most of these game systems might only have one or two reveals, especially as the video confirms big reveals for Age of Sigmar (new army), Kill Team (next set) and Necromunda (new box). We’ll have to wait until Friday to see. To keep track of what’s coming up, keep an eye on our release tracker here.
