This article discusses and speculates on the upcoming release schedule for Horus Heresy, based on previous releases from Games Workshop and current news and rumours.
A year into the new edition of Horus Heresy, we have had another armour mark previewed in the MkIV range. The article also implies preorders are soon, so I would expect them within the next month or so. The Whirlwind Missile Tank, previewed at the start of the year, is still missing from releases. Speculation seems to point to an issue with the release itself rather than the model being purposely held back by Games Workshop.
The current Horus Heresy release state has changed within the last year, largely due to Games Workshop’s desire to stop producing new resin models. This has led to a decline in the character models we had been receiving fairly consistently. With the release of the first Legio Custodes range, the core armies now all have a good amount of plastic in their line, making the game more accessible. That leaves speculation on what is to come largely driven by what people want, rather than what will actually be released. Going forward, we can likely expect more resin-to-plastic conversions. A few releases seem reasonably guessable.
Legio Custodes
There will likely be a wave two for Legio Custodes before the end of the edition. The Telemon Dreadnought has a new weapon profile, and it seems likely we will get more Legio Custodes in the same way we saw with the Solar Auxilia’s second wave.
Legiones Astartes
We know we are getting MkIV Marines, but there is still a lot missing from the plastic range. A notable gap is the Sicaran variants, as we already have a Sicaran hull. Checking the Warhammer webstore, the resin Sicaran variants are missing, so we may see the plastic variants soon. We are also still missing a lot of Fast Attack and Recon units. However, with the new MkIV Battle Group on the way, I do not see a big new wave of Legion releases coming immediately after it.
Mechanicum
Myrmidon Secutors and Domitar seem like likely targets for plastic, and possibly the Vorax as well.
Solar Auxilia
Solar Auxilia are now mostly plastic. A Stormhammer or Termite Drill seem the most likely next releases.
Campaign books
We will likely continue to get new journals too. I would expect part two for some of the existing books that are marked part one.
